Presentation

The COHORTES-MICROBIOMES focus project, supported by the PEPR SAMS program, was launched on October 11, 2024. On this occasion, the project coordinators, Joël Doré and Patrick Veiga, presented the project, its objectives and its structure.

COHORTES-MICROBIOMES aims to map the microbiome of the French population, identify the factors that impact it and understand its role in the onset or aggravation of chronic diseases. Bringing together the various players involved in this large-scale project, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the many areas of work involved:

  • Support for existing cohorts, their platforms and the construction of a national reference for the intestinal microbiome;
  • Studying the microbiome of children, particularly those aged 3 to 12, an age group whose microbiome has been little studied to date;
  • Clinico-biological collection representative of the general population of La Réunion;
  • Collaboration of this project with other focus projects of PEPR SAMS such as Cultissimo and Cloud4SAMS.
