Presentation

On April 11, 2025, the INTERFOOD focus project, led by the Nutritional Epidemiology Research Team (CRESS-EREN, Inserm / INRAE / Cnam / Université Sorbonne Paris Nord / Université Paris Cité), in association with Anses (Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire), published the “Guide to food coding in the FoodEx2 system“.

Databases on food consumption, food characterization and environmental impact use different nomenclatures, making their interconnection complex and costly in terms of time and personnel.
The INTERFOOD project aims to develop and test tools and methods enabling different databases in the food-health field to operate together. The aim is to link various databases in order to produce results on the links between food exposome and health.

This guide, drafted under the coordination of Anses, aims to facilitate and standardize the coding of food databases in the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) European nomenclature: FoodEx2.
