The first annual scientific day of the France 2030 Research Program “Food Systems, Microbiomes and Health” (PEPR SAMS) was held on February 6, 2025.
Here’s a look back at this key event in the federation of research communities on food systems, microbiomes and health.
The aim of this scientific day was to bring together those involved in the program, and those wishing to join it. It was intended to discuss the main objectives of the research program and the projects it supports. Its ambition was also to stimulate collaboration between the “Food Systems” and “Microbiomes and Health” pillars, as well as with the wider research community.
At the start of the day, Philippe Mauguin, CEO of INRAE, and Didier Samuel, CEO of Inserm, co-pilots of the research program, gave their words of welcome in the form of videos introduced by Monique Axelos and Chantal Boulanger. These were followed by speeches from Virginie Bernois, Agriculture, Food and Forestry Advisor at the Secrétariat Général Pour l’Investissement, and Henry Éric Spinnler, Action Manager at the Agence Nationale de la Recherche.
Together, they underlined the importance of the national acceleration strategy “Sustainable and Healthy Food” and the key role played by the SAMS research program, and the projects it funds, within this framework.
After a presentation of the SAMS program news by its scientific directors, Evelyne Jouvin-Marche, Emmanuelle Maguin and Sophie Nicklaus, this day highlighted multiple France 2030 programs:
-
- ASTRAGAL, a program designed to promote and support the agro-ecological transition of agricultural systems, presented by Olivier Ruetsch, Director of the Valorization and Project Engineering Department at INRAE Transfert.
- France 2030 research program “Women’s and Couple’s Health”, aimed at advancing research and structuring the community around endometriosis and infertility, presented by Jean Rosenbaum, scientific coordinator of the Inserm-led program.
- France 2030 “Digital Health” research program, focusing on the exploitation of growing volumes of health data and the concept of the digital twin, presented by Lotfi Senhadji, scientific coordinator, and Hugo Landais, project manager of the program piloted by Inserm and Inria.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the 19 projects funded by the SAMS research program:
